Webarchitects work with FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software) applications because it fits with our ethical principles.
We won't work with certain types of software with proprietary licensing, but please ask us for advice, we'll help if we can. Commercial software privatises the process of creating software instead of working with transparency in a sharing community. This also means that commercial software can be more vulnerable to hidden security flaws than open source software.
The Webarchitects 2012 AGM agreed that:
All software artefacts that the co-operative produces to be licensed under a FSF approved license.
See the Free Software Foundation site for a list of their approved licences.
Free/Libre/Open-Source Software powers the Internet and a lot of phones and other devices (for example home routers and sat navs).
We use free software for all of our work.
For information on the benefits of free software to owners, developers and end users, see the Free Software Foundation web site.
Webarchitects know a thing or two about free software. We have configured thousands of applications over the years, and we know which software is right for which job.
